What is 'HIVE'? HIVE is a scheme set up by the international HIV charity SIC whereby UK university students teach pupils in local secondary schools about the global epidemic of HIV/AIDS and its impact both in the UK and abroad. It aims to educate young people about the issues surrounding poverty, global health and HIV/AIDS in an interesting and thought provoking way. HIVE's trained student volunteers visit schools and run interactive workshop sessions targeted at pupils of all abilities aged 11-18.
What are HIVE's aims? HIVE has three main aims and areas of interest:
1. To raise awareness and increase the understanding of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic amongst UK schoolchildren and university students.
2. To facilitate action and fundraising to help provide practical support, testing and health care treatment in Tanzania.
3. To minimise the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS in Tanzania through education
